Between March 16 and 18, 2026, the Kaarimã village hosted another strategic territorial management planning meeting, bringing together members from across the Xipaya Indigenous Land community. The activity included a participatory assessment aimed at defining actions to be implemented between 2026 and 2028, including the organization of the territorial management council and initiatives for monitoring fish and tracajás (Amazon river turtles), among other essential actions for caring for the territory.

With the participation of Indigenous leaders, elders, women, youth, and children, the gathering reaffirmed the collective strength of the Xipaya people in building pathways grounded in dialogue, listening, and unity. We also counted on the support of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in organizing and facilitating the discussions.
This moment represents another milestone in the history of the territory, strengthening self-governance practices and valuing traditional knowledge alongside strategies for protection and sustainability. The collective construction of decisions demonstrates the community’s commitment to future generations and to the preservation of their ways of life.

Through this initiative, Instituto Juma reinforces its commitment to strengthening Indigenous autonomy and territorial management, supporting processes collectively built by Xipaya communities. By encouraging spaces for participation, listening, and planning, the Institute contributes to the appreciation of traditional knowledge, the protection of the territory, and the continuity of Indigenous ways of life for future generations.
